Dr David Marshall is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist in private practice based in Greater Manchester, offering discreet, compassionate and expert care for adults aged 18 and above.

After qualifying in Medicine and Surgery in 1969, Dr Marshall began a distinguished career in Psychiatry, training under world-class professors and becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1974. He was appointed Consultant Psychiatrist at North Manchester General Hospital in 1977, where he led a specialist team caring for older adults. In 2000, he transitioned to central Manchester to focus on adult psychiatry within the community, supporting a diverse population including families from South East Asia and managing a wide range of complex mental-health presentations.

Over his five-decade career, Dr Marshall also built a respected medico-legal practice, providing expert psychiatric assessments for courts and solicitors for more than 25 years before retiring from that aspect of his work in 2024.

Today, Dr Marshall continues to see patients privately—both in person at his consulting rooms in Prestwich and via secure video consultations. His clinical approach is holistic, combining thoughtful use of medication with supportive psychotherapy. He often collaborates closely with GPs, counsellors and other healthcare professionals to provide seamless, joined-up care tailored to each individual.

Outside clinical practice, Dr Marshall is married with a family and remains actively involved in charitable and community work within the Manchester Jewish community.

"For years, I felt like I was constantly fighting against myself—struggling with focus, forgetting things, and feeling overwhelmed by tasks others seemed to handle easily. I always blamed myself for being lazy or disorganised. It wasn’t until a friend mentioned ADHD in adults that I started to wonder if there was more to it.I came across The Doctors Clinics online and booked their ADHD assessment package. From the very first interaction, I felt listened to and understood. The process started with a questionnaire, and then I had an initial consultation with the GP, who was incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. They referred me for a formal assessment with their clinical partner, CAL, who were equally thorough and professional." "When I received my diagnosis of ADHD, it was a strange mix of relief and emotion—I finally had an explanation. But what made all the difference was what came next. I was brought back into the care of the clinic and started on medication with regular follow-ups. The GP took time to tailor the treatment to me, explained everything clearly, and genuinely cared about how I was getting on." "Now, several months later, I feel like I can finally breathe. Things aren’t perfect, but life makes more sense. I’m getting things done without burning out, and for the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful about the future. I’m so grateful to The Doctors Clinics for helping me get here. This experience has been nothing short of life-changing."
